Kilmoyley do themselves and the county proud

- Tommy O’Connor

ALTHOUGH defeated, Kilmoyley put up an excellent performance before losing by 2-14 to 0-13 to Lismore (Waterford) in the Munster intermediate club final at Mallow last Saturday.

Level at half-time at 0-7 apiece, the concession of two second half goals opened a gap between the sides and eventually brought an end to the Kerry side’s campaign. However, Kilmoyley can look back on the year with satisfaction, having won the county championship for the second year in-a-row as well as winning the 2016 County League and North Kerry Championship titles.

After three final appearances, a Kerry club has yet to win this title. Ballyduff had previously lost the finals of 2011, going down to Effin (Limerick) by 0-14 to 0-11 and 2012 when they lost to Silvermines (Tipperary) by 0-14 to 0-8.
