SCARTAGLEN GAA AGM: The AGM of Scartaglin GAA Club was held in the Clubhouse on Friday night last with a reasonable attendance present and only one senior player attending outgoing Chairman Pat O’ Sullivan welcomed all to the meeting and reported that it was a reasonably successful year for the club and the senior team did well to remain in Division 4 of the County League. He congratula­ted all the under age teams and minor team who enjoyed a very successful season and thanked the mentors involved in each case. The erection of the new stand was a notable achievemen­t in 2016. Pat thanked all his fellow officers for their help and co-operation during the past year as well as the senior team, management, trainers and selectors. He ended by wishing the club every success for 2017 and indicated that he was stepping down as Chairman and would not be seeking re-election. Outgoing secretary Martin Hewitt read the minutes of the previous AGM and congratula­ted all on their successes during 2016. He thanked all mentors, trainers and select and said that the provision of a new stand was a huge asset for the club and would be there for generation­s to come. He thanked the Club’s Executive Committee for their help and commitment during the year. Martin also expressed condolence­s to the Daly families of Scartaglin and Counguilla and the Horan families of Coolnagera­gh and Castleisla­nd on their recent bereavemen­ts. Martin also said he was not seeking re-election as Club Secretary. Treasurer Bernard Cronin circulated a very detailed and comprehens­ive financial report outlining all details of income and expenditur­e for the past year. Pat O’ Brien of the East Kerry GAA Board addressed the meeting in relation to the promotion of the East Kerry GAA Awards and function night which is coming up on Friday January 13th . When it came to the election of officers, the meeting failed to elect a Chairman and so the meeting will re-convene on Thursday night, November 24th at 8p.m.
