CROSS COUNTRY

The Munster Juvenile Inter Club Relays & Masters Cross Country Championships were held on Sunday 20th Nov. in St. Augustine’s College, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.

A calm, sunny crisp day greeted the competitors in what was ideal weather conditions and a perfect course. Maria McCarthy & Bernie O’Mahony were our only two athletes competing in the Masters women 4 Km race. Maria, following her team bronze medal in the British & Irish Masters XC last weekend looked very strong from the start sitting in amongst the lead pack. She started to show here strength in the last kilometer when she lay in second place overall and was slowly reeling in the leader. Maria finished in second place overall and taking gold in her O40 age category. Bernie O’Mahony competing in the O45 category, had a very gutsy run, fighting all the way to the end. She finished 26th overall and was placed 8th in her category. Bernie was also just outside the county team gold medal when finishing 5th for the county. Well done to you both.

BAG PACKING

We are looking for volunteers for the Bag Packing in Dunnes Stores, Killarney on Friday 16th & Saturday 17th December.. Anyone who can spare a couple of hours over the two days we would greatly appreciate this. Please contact club chairman, Jerome Crowley 086 8174303.

CLUB TRAINING

Juvenile Indoor Training on Thursdays, starting at 7pm in the Sports Hall, Farranfore. €2 per session. Any juveniles who will be competing in the National Cross Country Championships will have their endurance / interval session at the same time (7pm) outside on the GAA field.

Cardiorespiratory, Strength, Endurance & Flexibility Exercise Class every Tuesday @ 7pm indoors at Farranfore Sports Hall, Coached by Maria McCarthy, this programme is designed to improve all the components of fitness that constitute physical fitness of an individual.

Secondary School/Junior / Senior training every Thursday starts at 6:40pm in GAA grounds Farranfore. €2 club member, €4 non club member.
