New shoes for old At Tesco Shopping Arcade, New Street, Killarney a Cobbler was at work, full half sole and rubber heels, the man said, handing in his battered looking shoes, no bother said the cobbler, il have them ready for you in a short while. This is a trade that was handed down from Grand Father to Father to Son, isn’t it good to see the old trade of shoe repairs back again. I asked if he had more men’s shoes than women’s to repain, quite the opposite young lady,he said, which surprised me and for your information ,I have many Killorglin people coming to me to put a tack on their shoe, no more hobnails says he, those days are long gone. ‘’Tis a wonder indeed ye don’t have a Cobbler in Killorglin, ye had plenty of them at one time. I agreed with him there so if you have a good pair of shoes that need repairing, bring them in!!!
