Get those skates on for Killarney on Ice this winter

-

CHRISTMAS is coming, but plenty of us don’t want to think about that yet – it is November, after all. But, on a less divisive note, Killarney on Ice is also set to return.

A key ingredient of the Christmas in Killarney Festival, the 600 square metre ice rink at the Beech Road Car Park will open for fun and frolics from Friday December 2 until Sunday January 8.

There’s already been great interest in the 2016-17 staging of Killarney on Ice. Group bookings in particular have been exceptionally strong, while schools, youth clubs and sports teams will avail of the group booking discount rate as they plan a session at Kerry’s only festive ice rink.

“Value for money is key to our success” says rink promoter Tim O’Donoghue.

“That’s why we have special family and group rates, and we can certainly extend normal opening times during the day to accommodate school groups.

“It’s great fun, easy to pick up, and is brilliant exercise too, making it a perfect outing,” he added.

The rink will be open daily from 5pm on selected weekdays and from 11am on Saturdays, Sundays and during the school holidays. Sessions last for one hour and tickets can be booked online at www. killarneyonice.com.

“Helmets and skate aids are available for novice skaters with double bladed skates to help young children,” Tim said.

“It’s also a good idea to wear gloves, thick socks and bring an extra pair just in case!”

You can also visit killarneyonice.com for more information on times and ticket prices, or alternatively you can phone organisers at (085) 740 0366.

As Tim said, “It promises to be a wonderful Christmas in Killarney, so get your skates on and enjoy!”
