The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Killarney Celtic and Dingle Bay Rovers aiming to reach last 32 of FAI Junior Cup
UMBRO FAI JUNIOR CUP (LAST 64)
Killarney Celtic v Mervue United (Galway) Saturday, December 3 Celtic Park, Killarney at 7pm
TWO Kerry sides, Killarney Celtic and Dingle Bay Rovers, take the Kerry flag into the last 64 of the FAI Junior Cup next weekend with aspirations of progressing to the last 32 of the national competition.
Killarney Celtic play host to Galway side Mervue United on Saturday at Celtic at 7pm and will face a stern test against a strong Galway side. However, home advantage will be a huge boost to Celtic as they seldom lose big games at Celtic Park.
After a slow start to the season Celtic have gelled into a very good side who are strong in all departments of play. They have a good blend of young and experienced players who play an attractive brand of free flowing football.
Celtic have been impressive in their games to date in the competition beating Newcastlewest 9-0 in their opening game.
They had a tough encounter in the next round defeating Mitchels Avenue 1-0. They travelled to Pat Kennedy Park for the next round and won easily 6-1 against Listowel Celtic.
They have the credentials to win this game and get the vote to come out on top on Saturday.
Clonmel Celtic (Tipperary) v Dingle Bay Rovers Sunday, December 4 Clonmel at 2pm
DINGLE Bay Rovers journey to Tipperary to meet a very formidable Nenagh Celtic side.
However the West Kerry side should have no fear of their opponents as they have already sent one of the high flying Clare sides Avenue United crashing out of the competition with a great 2-0 win at Mounthawk Park.
In their path in the competition so far Dingle Bay Rovers defeated Limerick side Granagh United 4-1 in the first round.
They had a tough game in the next round but recorded a great 2-1 win over Ennis Town.
They then faced what most people thought was an impossible task against Clare side Avenue United and they won 2-0.
They are playing great football so far this season and will go into this game with a lot of confidence.
They will have to be at their very best if they are to win this game but are capable of achieving it if they play to their full potential.
The good news is that players from Killarney Celtic and Dingle were injury free after last Sunday’s Oscar Traynor Cup game.
