A year of investment and reward for award-winning Garvey’s SuperValu

-

IT’S been the kind of year to sing about from the rooftops for Garvey’s Supervalu, Rock Street, Tralee, as the award-winning store continues to set the pace in terms of commitment to developing its store and bringing choice, value and comfort to its many customers. 2016 saw the Garvey Group invest €2.2 million in its Rock Street store. But this, in many ways, only conveys half the story as many weeks and months of research into retail, both in Ireland and beyond, was undertaken to ensure the development would deliver the kind of service its customers demanded and the kind of investment that helps retain and create employment in Tralee.

The refurbishment’s primary focus was to improve the fresh food offering and to cater for the increased demands by consumers for local and healthy food. The store can now boast of an extended deli area with a top class selection of hot and cold foods, plus a new gourmet barista coffee dock serving ‘Frank and Honest Coffee’ in a newly designed seating area. Customers now enjoy an expanded fresh food aisle, a health section and a Food Academy aisle which is home to emerging local food suppliers and small producers. In addition, there is a new cheese counter with an unrivalled selection of cheeses, many seasonal and many sourced locally.

Christmas is a great time to take stock of the year’s achievements and having already won ‘Best Off-licence of the Year’ in Ireland and, more recently, ‘Best Overall Winner’ at The Kerryman Business Awards, this is one yuletide season when everyone at Garvey’s is sure to have a prep in their step.

“The Christmas atmosphere is really starting to build now and we recently held our very successful Annual Christmas Food Fair which was very positive and very well received. We had Martin Shanahan and Jean Smullen in store, as well as many of our local producers,” said Tim Moynihan, Assistant Manager at Garvey’s SuperValu, Rock Street.

“We will have lots of in store offers in the lead up to Christmas that customers should check out and we’re totally geared towards Christmas at the moment. This Christmas promises to be an exciting one given it’s the first in our newly revamped store.

“2016 was big year for us as we won overall winner in this year’s ‘Off Licence of the Year’ award which is very competitive as we’re up against stores from all over Ireland and this is testament to the hard work and conscientious effort of the staff. We’re also thrilled to have won at the Kerryman Business Awards; winning Best Retail Premises Award and Best Overall Business Award on the night was great as it’s always a big thing to be recognised in your own county,” added Tim.
