Festive fun in Killorglin ...

-

CHRISTMAS is the time for enjoying the company of family and friends and in Killorglin the newly formed Chamber Alliance is urging you to celebrate locally and to ‘keep Christmas in Killorglin’ in 2016, that’s the message from Trudi O’Sullivan, Secretary of Killorglin Chamber Alliance.

The Christmas lights were switched on last weekend by Santa Claus and the Ladies ‘Happy Day’ Choir, along with the boys and the girls of the Killorglin Fame Stage School who provided an amazing display. And for those of you who love the nativity scene, Killorglin has just hosted Kerry’s first ever live crib scene with lambs and a donkey.

All of the shops in Killorglin have super discounts in store to welcome shoppers to town this Christmas. Guys take note: ladies will always welcome a voucher from their favourite hairdresser or pharmacist and you can get lots of festive gift inspiration by visiting Sandra at the Gift Store in the Square and Moriarty’s Pop-Up Christmas Shop, Iveragh Road, where you’ll see amazing Christmas table displays and decorations.

Joe O’Shea’s Toy Emporium on lower Bridge Street is an Aladdin’s Cave for kids and The Brand Geeks is a welcome new neighbour. Chris will also be glad to work on your Corporate Christmas image and gift getting. All of your food, poultry and meat requirements are catered for with the myriad of Craft Butchers and supermarkets, and if you have diamonds in mind, Finnegan’s on Upper Bridge St will have you sparkling in no time.

Christmas would not be complete in Killorglin without a visit to Boyles Hardware on Iveragh Road where this year it’s bigger and better and a fabulous day’s entertainment is organised on Saturday December 17 th from 12 noon. Your Christmas is completely catered for at Boyles with festive flower arranging, eye catching decorations, discounts throughout the store and a free dog groomer to ensure your pooch is in top condition for the season.

The Killorglin Men’s social club choir will serenade you while you sample the fabulous mulled wine and mince pies and, of course, you better be good because Santa Clause will be there to keep an eye on you.

“Killorglin is a fantastic town in which to celebrate and its central, Mid Kerry location means that everyone can travel to its fabulous award winning restaurants and pubs to celebrate Christmas in style. Sumptuous Christmas menus are available at all the venues with live music and super fun guaranteed. Killorglin makes memories that last forever,” said Trudi.

The traditional Killorglin Hospice Carol Service will be held in Sol y Sombra on Sunday 11 December at 6 pm. This is a magical evening of song, music and story telling celebrating the local community and showcases the wealth of talent there is in Killorglin and surrounding areas. It’s a wonderful evening of warmth and friendship to be enjoyed whilst helping a local charity. This event was sold out last year and we would urge you to book your tickets early – please call 066 9762347 for details.
