COMMUNITY CENTRE MEALS

The Ballinskel­ligs Community Centre will resume Meals and Wheels on Monday the 9th of January and Meals will be in the Community Centre from Thursday the 11th of January.

A TRAINING COURSE

IN ROAD SAFETY A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY In Halla Pobail, Baile an Sceilg On Thursday, 19th January 2017 Time: 7:30pm (approx 2 hours) Cost: Free For: Local Groups / Associatio­ns in South Kerry Organised by Sceilg Le Cheile, Active Retirement Associatio­n The course will be delivered by Eileen Cunningham, of the RSA (Road Safety Authority). The Road Safety Authority has developed an educationa­l programme for road users. Eileen Cunningham is the RSA Promotion officer for Limerick & Kerry and she will come to South Kerry to let groups know about the programme and how modules can be delivered to groups. The material consists of a Resource pack and DVD and this will be given to groups which participat­e in the informatio­n session. Groups then choose relevant sections for delivery to their particular group i.e. Pedestrian Safety & Cycle Safety, Tractor and Farm Machine Safety, Child Safety, Mobile Phone use Driver Fitness & Eyesight. The course would be of interest to members of Active Retirement Groups, GAA, Farming Associatio­ns, Sporting Bodies and other local developmen­t associatio­ns and it is recommende­d that 1/2 members would attend from these groups so that the programme will then reach a wider audience.

The Informatio­n / Briefing Training will be held in Halla Pobail, Ballinskel­ligs on Thursday 19th January 2017 will last approx 2 hours. The training and resource materials are free.

TRIBUTE DVD

A DVD is now for sale in Iveragh shops of the ceremonies of the 30th October in Waterville, where Heritage Iveragh commemorat­ed the loss of Iveragh and Danish men in Ballinskel­ligs Bay in 1916 and all others lost in the Bay and also paid tribute to the rescue services of Iveragh.
