Dates set for Scór Sinsear and na bPaistí

A meeting of Coiste Scor Chiarrai was held in the Brehon Hotel, Killarney on December 20 when the dates for both Scor Sinsear and Scor na bPaisti for the county were confirmed.

The following are the dates for the various competitio­ns in Scor. Scor na nOg is at the Munster Final stage where Kerry will be involved in six out of the seven categories with the following representi­ng their county:

Figure Dancers Spa, East Kerry Board Alice O’Donoghue, Aislinn O’Donovan, Lia Murphy, Ailbhe Gallagher, Erin Holland, Meghann Cronin, Aine Brosnan, Katie Lawlor.

Recitation Cian Sheehan, Firies, East Kerry Board.

Ballad Group Glenflesk, East Kerry Board Allison Cronin, Alicia Cronin, Aileen Healy, Maeve Tangney, Sinead Gleeson.

Leiriu (Novelty Act) Na Gaeil, Tralee St. Brendans, Board Anne O’Sullivan, Dearbhla Ni Choirc, Barry Staunton, Joshua Roche, John Costello, Liam Og Mac Clochaire.

Instrument­al Music Ballydonog­hue, North Kerry Football Alan Foley, Aoife Lynch, Ryan O’Neill, Roisin Kissane, Caoimhe Barry.

Set Dancing Spa, East Kerry Board Kianan O’Doherty, Liam Spillane, Gary O’Sullivan, Cian O’Sullivan, Erin Holland, Meghann Cronin, Aine Brosnan, Orlaith Spillane. THE Munster Finals of Scor Na Nog will take place at the Community Centre, Ovens, county Cork on Sunday, January 8 at 2pm. The venue for the All Ireland Final Finals will be the Waterfront Theatre, Belfast on Saturday, February 11.

It is important to note that the Spa Quiz team of Louise Fleming, Daniel O’Sullivan, James Lynch, Kieran O’Doherty who qualified at the County Finals. Due a change in this category the County champions in each County will go directly through to the All Ireland Finals. Spa are on the verge of history as they hope to make it a three-in-a-row of National titles. MOVING on to Scor Sinsear and the County Finals of Scor Sinsear sponsored by Estaury Print, Ballylongf­ord will be held in the Mhuire Gan Smal, Primary School Castleisla­nd on Saturday, February 18 commencing at 8pm with the County Finals in the Quiz at the same venue with a starting time of 6pm sharp.

All District Board are requested to have their finals completed by Sunday, February 5 and all those going forward along with their reg. Numbers returned to Scor Secretary, Suzanne Ni Laoire.

Kerry have a bye along with Waterford to the Munster Finals and this will go ahead at Cashel, County Tipperary on Saturday April 8. The Waterfront Theatre, Belfast is pencilled in for the All Ireland Finals on Saturday May 6. SCOR Na bPaisti is without doubt the most popular of all Scor competitio­ns with huge participat­ion and well attended. This competitio­n finishes at County level. With all nine District Boards expected to take part we are sure to have the usual excellent competitio­n.

Semi-finals for North of the County which will include; North Kerry, Football, North Kerry Hurling, West Kerry, Castleisla­nd District and Tralee/St. Brendans with Saturday March 11 pencilled in while the South of the County will include East Kerry, Mid Kerry, Kenmare District and South Kerry and the date for this will be Sunday March 12.

Venues to be confirmed County Finals on Sunday, March 26 at the Foilmore Community Centre, 2pm with the Quiz County Finals 11am to be held at a separate venue to be confirmed.
