The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Beale trips the light fantastic for Christmas
THEY’RE saying that football club Strictly events are becoming nearly as hotly-contested as the football they support.
Kerry’s latest smash-hit event of its kind will have done nothing to dissuade people of this view - as the dancers at Beale GAA pulled out all the stops to bust nearly every last ballroom move in the book to perfection.
Craic in the interests of community bonding was, of course, the be-all and end-all of the night alongside the fundraising. But for the dancers there was the added concern of nailing it in front of the huge crowd at the Ballybunion Community Centre last week.
And man did they manage that, with the competition so stiff that the final result saw four couples tied on full points!
“Such was the high standard that it proved a very difficult task for the judges to decide on the eventual winner. The judges’ choice were Natalie Herbert and James Fogarty, while John Joy and Mag Scanlan were voted the people’s choice. There may have been two winning couples on the night, but it can be truly said that each and every couple was a winner in this spectacular show!” Beale PRO Bríd Griffin told The Kerryman.
“The dancers deserve a special word of thanks for stepping forward and tripping the light fantastic on this great social occasion. They embody the spirit of our club and deserve the highest of praise for their commitment and enthusiasm. They have forged lasting friendships and are now calling themselves Strictly Family,” Bríd added. Thanks to the success the club is already looking forward to next year’s dance-off.
