The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
East Kerry GAA All Star shortlist announced
WITH just over a week to go until the 2016 East Kerry GAA All Stars awards night in The Brehon Hotel, The Kerryman can exclusively reveal the short-list of nominees for the prestigious event.
Last week we revealed the long-list of 45 footballers nominated from the hundreds who played in the 2016 East Kerry SFC (O’Donoghue Cup), and this week the judges have whittled that number down to the 24 players who will attend the gala banquet as guests of honour.
Unsurprisingly, the champions, Rathmore, and beaten finalists, Dr Crokes, dominate the short-list with 20 nominations between them, with the threetime champions commanding 12 places in the list.
Beaten semi-finalists Spa have three nominations with the other place on the short-list going to Gneeveguilla, the other beaten semi-finalist.
In addition to the 15 All Stars announced on the night, the Senior Footballer of the Championship and the Young Footballer of the Championship will be announced as well as the Intermediate Player of the Fr Galvin Cup.
The East Kerry Board will also honour their Personality of the Year and name their 2016 Hall of Fame winner at the gala awards.
