Must win game for Kerry in Oscar Traynor Cup

-

FAI OSCAR TRAYNOR CUP

West Cork v Kerry

Sunday January 8 Dninagh, Cork at 2pm

KERRY play their third and final game in their group in the qualifying stages of the Oscar Traynor Cup next Sunday with a long journey to face West Cork.

Limerick DL are already through to the next round after winning all their three games. Limerick District League beat Kerry 3-0, Desmond League 6-1 and beat West Cork 2-1.

Kerry are in second place with three points after their 1-0 win over Desmond League. Now it is a matter of who will finish second and it is between Kerry and West Cork.

After their win over The Desmond League Kerry’s fate is now in their own hands as a draw would be sufficient to see them through to the knock out stages of the national competition.

They lost their opening game 3-0 to Limerick DL but redeemed themselves with a 1-0 win in the second round at Mounthawk Park.

They travel to play a Cork side that have just a single point on the board which they got against Desmond League.

However if they can beat Kerry they will go through so there is a lot at stake for them also.

They gave Limerick District League a good run for their money just losing 2-1 so there can be no complacency by Kerry going into this game.

Kerry face the game with a lot of confidence and they should be good enough to come away with the result they require which will hopefully be a win.

David Hennessy should start in goals while the back four will probably comprise of Jason Hickson, Aidan O’Callaghan, Con Barrett and Ryan Downey.

Gary and Matt Keane, Joe Sheehy and Danny Roche are probable midfielders while Sean Brosnan and Ashley Kelliher could be the attackers up front.

Also in the mix for a place in the team are David Moran, Killian Moran, Tommy and Danny Feehan, Shane Greensmyth and Ritchie Kelliher.

The Kerry panel of players includes David Hennessy, Jason Hickson, Ryan Downey, Aidan O’Callaghan, Con Barrett, Matt Keane, Gary Keane, Joe Sheehy, Danny Roche, Sean Brosnan, Ashley Kelliher, Danny Feehan, Tommy Feehan, Richie Kelliher, Shane Greensmyth and Killian Moran.
