Busy schedule ahead for Crotta

-

TO say everyone connected with Crotta O’Neills Hurling Club is busy right now would be an understatement given the exciting array of new plans in the pipeline. Development of the club grounds at Dromakee is coming on nicely and the club has just launched a new website.

If all that wasn’t enough, the annual club social takes place at The Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday, February 4, where the victorious minor county champions of 2016 will presented medals by Waterford hurling manager, Derek McGrath.

Just a year ago the club embarked on an ambitious fiveyear development plan with Phase 1 of the Field development nearly complete. This phase has seen the playing pitch drained, re-graded, re-seeded and increased in size, while in the coming months the completion of the training areas is expected. The focus moves to Phase 2 where the construction of a hurling ‘ball wall’ with astro turf, perimeter fencing and flood lighting is the plan.

“This hurling ball wall space will provide a safe, accessible environment for players to develop their skills all year round, which will ultimately lead to improvements across all teams in the club,” said Club Chairperson, Paddy Weir.

The exciting new website (www.crottagaa.club) will now give regular updates on the club’s activities, fixtures and events and members can purchase club membership and weekly lotto tickets on it.

Finally, the club social welcomes the 1992 victorious U21 county championship team. Tickets (€40) can be purchased from the Kilflynn Post Office, Parkers Pub, Herbert’s Bar and the Half Way Bar.
