U-17 Squad picked for U-17 opener in Galway

AIRTRICITY U-17 LEAGUE

THE fixtures have been announced for the Airtricity U-17 League and Kerry will kick off their league programme in the Elite Southern Division with an away game against Galway United on Sunday March 19. The following week they have their first home game against Waterford.

A management team has not been appoint yet but will be put in place within the next couple of weeks at the official launch of the compeition.

The Kerry panel of 20 players who have signed up for the Airtricity U-17 League for the season ahead are Robert Osborne (Killarney Celtic), Alex O’Connor (Killorglin), John Ward (The Park), Ronan Cahill (Pike Rovers), Shane Jordan (The Park), Sean Carmody (The Park), James Rusk (The Park), Adam O’Donoghue (Castleisla­nd), Martin Coughlan (Kerry DL), Sheagh O’Connor (Kerry DL), Sebastian Vasiu (The Park), Michael O’Gara (The Park), Adria Miravet (Listowel Celtic), Eoin Clifford (Kerry DL), John Hayes (Carrig Celtic), Padraig McCannon (The Park), Boki Nikic (Inter Kenmare), Thomas Burke (The Park), Kevin Williams (Tralee Dynamos), Dillon Robinson (Tralee Dynamos).

Nine of last year’s squad are on the panel so that will greatly enhance the teams chances in the league for the new season.

OSCAR TRAYNOR CUP

KERRY have got a very tough draw in the knock-out stages of the Oscar Traynor Cup with a home fixture against Dublin AUL. The winner of this game will be away to Wexford in the quarter-final.

DENNY U-17 LEAGUE Mastergeeh­a 4 Killarney Athletic 2

THE derby was a good competitiv­e game with Mastergeeh­a taking the bragging rights at the end. The star of the show for the winners was James Lynch who scored a hat trick while Anthony Darmody got the other goal. Jason Griffin and Harry Potts scored for Athletic.

Listowel Celtic A 3 Castleisla­nd 0

LISTOWEL Celtic closed the gap on league leaders Killarney Celtic to just three points after a comfortabl­e win over Castleisla­nd. The man of the match for the winners was Alec Laurent who scored all three goals for the Fealesider­s.

Tralee Dynamos 1 Listowel Celtic B 1

A POINT each was probably a fair outcome here with David O’Connor scoring for Dynamos and Cian McGrath getting the Celtic goal.
