HANDBALL NEW

Kerry Juvenile Handball players travelled to Dungarvan, Co. Waterford on Sunday to play Waterford teams in the Munster Juvenile Handball Championsh­ip and had mixed results. Under 12 years singles - Darragh Lynch defeated Billy O Connell 12-15 15-9 15-5 Under 14 years singles-Sean Quirke defeated William Bresford 15-14 15-9 Under 13 years Doubles- Aoife Page and Dainelle Griffin were unlucky to lose 15-14 15-13 Under 16 years Doubles - Tommy Quirke and Liam Smith lost 15-5 15-9

Under 13 years Singles - Ronan Sheahan and under 15 years Doubles - Diarmuid Mc. Gillicuddy and Darragh Blennerhas­sett games were postponed and will be played at Ballydesmo­nd this Thursday 2nd February at 7p.m. Semi- Finals Kerry will play Limerick in the Munster juvenile semi-finals at Glenbeigh this coming weekend. Good luck to all players.

Junior Championsh­ip Jack O’ Shea had two brilliant victories in the Munster Junior ‘’A’’singles Championsh­ip at Broadford, Co. Limerick. He defeated John Ferncombe, Co. Tipperary 21-9 21-4 and Seamus Lawler Co. Clare 21-9 21=12 and advance to Munster Final Munster Final Dominick Lynch will play David Moloney, Co. Tipperary in Munster Master ‘’A’’ singles final at Glenbeigh this Tuesday 31st January.

Semi Final J.J.Quirke will play Colm Jordon, Co. Cork in the Munster over 35 years ‘’A’’ singles semi-final at Fermoy. Co. Cork this coming weekend.

ROAD GRANT

Councillor Michael Cahill has welcomed a grant of €162,00 for the Lyranes Upper to Gortmaloon East Cross road (v Climbers Inn). The local councillor said ‘’This is good news as the funding will address the lags on the road and help bring the road up to a high standard’’

PUBLIC TOILETS

As a result of representa­tions made to Kerry Co. Council by local Councillor Michael Cahill provision has been made in the Council Budget 2017 for extended opening hours at Rossbeigh public toilets which will be open every Saturday and Sunday all year round. Full time opening 16th March to 25th September
