Transition year pupils exhibit their take on the world

AN EXCITING exhibition of photographs has recently opened in Castleisland Library and it’s displaying the talents of local students.

Transition Year pupils from St. Patrick’s and Presentation Secondary schools have spent the last few months taking photographs and experimenting with photography.

Their exhibition comes under the theme of My Point of View and it holds a vast and diverse range of opinions, influences and points of view.

The collection of images reflects today’s contemporary culture and allows the audience to get a glimpse of the world through the eyes of a Transition Year pupil in 2017.

TY student Roisín Downey explains the work that was completed prior to the exhibition:

“In November 2016 we began our first photography project. Our teacher Ms. O’Reilly showed us different digital photography techniques and experiments in class.

“We then had to take photographs under the theme of, My Point of View. Under this theme we took photographs which would show what our world, or ‘point of view’ is like, as a Transition Year student in 2017.

“After editing and titling our photographs in class, we then had to decide which one to submit to the exhibition,” said Roisín.

The exhibition was launched on Wednesday, February 1, in Castleisland Library. It was officially opened by local artist, Richard Nolan who praised the work and the opportunities that the T.Y. multimedia module afforded the students.

The exhibition will run until February 17th and should not be missed by anyone even remotely interested in photography or in looking at the world through the eyes of a Transition Year student.
