The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

NOT JUST A FEAST OF FOOTBALL

-

THE football festival, which is also supported by Ireland’s fastest growing professional services firm Grant Thornton, Lee Strand Milk, Fáilte Ireland and Kerry County Council Tourism Unit, has attracted over 13,000 club players since it began in 1989 but it’s not just about football.

At the heart of the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé is an invitation for lovers of the ethos of club football to connect, share stories and have fun with like-minded people in a social envirnment. Comórtas HQ at Páidí Ó Sé’s pub is a magnet for such occasions and this year is no different with nightly live music acts and DJ as well as a special excerpt from a John B. Keane play hosted by the late playwright and author’s son Billy Keane at 6pm on Sunday evening (19th) in the pub.

Pádraig Óg. Ó Sé promises a healthy mix of fun and sport, ‘The support of local host clubs is crucial in ensuring we can maintain such a high number of teams and we thank them for their co-operation. We have over 1,000 people spending the weekend on the Dingle Peninsula and part of why they come is to meet like-minded Kerry people so we are extending an open invitation for the Kerry public to come along.”

Michael Collins, Area Manager, Lidl said, ”We are delighted to sponsor this year’s Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé. With almost 150 stores, we are a part of communities all over Ireland, this is where serious support is born and nurtured- through the dedication of a local community. Our store teams in Dingle and Tralee are proud to get behind this year’s festival.” For a programme of events and a full list of teams visit www.paidiose.com and follow the match scores on events on Twitter @PIOs85 #Comortas2017.
