Riordan and Counihan recover to reach semi

IN the Munster 40x20 Junior B Doubles quarter final the Ballymac duo of Danny Riordan and Cian Counihan got off to a terrible start losing the first set 2-21. However, the duo showed their class in the next winning 21-8 and then took the decider 21-13 to progress to the semi-finals.

There was no luck on this occasion for Dominic Lynch or Jack O’Shea. Lynch went down to Clare’s Diarmuid Nash 21-12, 2111 in the All Ireland 40x20 Senior Singles Round of 32.

Fellow Glenbeigh member Jack O’Shea went down in his Munster 40x20 Junior A Singles final. His first set against Cork’s Ryan Harkin was close ending 21-19 to the Cork man who won the second 21-8.

Fixtures

THIS is a busy week with a number of important contests down for decision. In the Munster 40x20 Juvenile Championsh­ip Girls u12 Doubles Roisin Smith and Lea Morris from Glenbeigh play Aoibhne Lucey and Edel Murphy in Ballydesmo­nd in midweek.

Glenbeigh’s Sean Quirke takes on Rory Grace in the Munster 40x20singl­es final while in the Girls Under 14 singles final Samantha Riordan, also from Glenbeigh takes on Clare’s Chloe Philpott. Both of these games take place in Tulla, County Clare.

In the Munster Under 12 decider Glenbeigh’s Dara Lynch takes on Cameron O’Sullivan from Cork. The Under 17 singles finals will see Ballymac’s Dara Keane playing Michael O’Malley from Cork with both of these games in Tuamgreany in Clare this Saturday at 11am.

The All Ireland Senior Ladies 40x20 singles quarter final sees Ballymac’s Ashley Prendevill­e take on Martina McMahon from Limerick this Saturday with no venue announced at the time of going to press.

There is one game in the Over35s this week with Glenbeigh’s John Joe Quirke facing Cork’s Colm Jordan in the Munster 40x20 Singles Final in Fermoy.
