Kerry face acid test against Dublin AUL

FAI OSCAR TRAYNOR TROPHY PLAY-OFF Kerry DL v Dublin AUL

Sunday, February 19 at 12 noon in Mounthawk Park KERRY face the acid test at Mounthawk Park next Sunday when they play the might of the Dublin AUL in an Oscar Traynor Cup play-off with a quarter-final slot the award for the winner.

Kerry could have hardly got a more difficult task as the Dublin AUL have won the title on numerous occasions and just three years ago won a four in a row.

Kerry will go into the game very much as outsiders and they will be hoping that they might be able to defeat them because it is a home tie.

To be frank they face a task of gigantic proportions but they wont be turning up just to make up the numbers and will be hoping that they might have a better chance of beating the Dubs in their own patch.

Kerry began their Oscar Traynor campaign with a defeat going down 3-0 to Limerick DL. Then the met the Desmond League at Mounthawk Park and came away with a 1-0 win.

They then travelled to play West Cork knowing that a draw would suffice to put them through to the knock out stages of the competition and they came away with a 2-2 draw which set up the clash against Dublin.

Everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed that they can upset the odds on Sunday but that looks most unlikely as Dublin must be fancied to progress to the quarter final.

Kerry will probably start with David Hennessy in goals. Jason Hickson, Aidan O Callaghan, Con Barrett and Ryan Downey are likely to be the defensive quartet Matt Keane, Danny Roche, Gary Keane Adam O Rourke and Joe Sheehy will be the contenders for midfield.

Depending at the formation chosen Sean Brosnan will be up front and he might be accompanied by Wayne Sparling or Ashley Kelliher.

Whatever team is picked Kerry have an enormous task ahead of them on Sunday and if they win it will be a remarkable achievement.
