Reunion of Caherdanie­l National School takes place from 26-28 May 2017.This is the first reunion of the Old School which closed its doors in 1971 after 96 years. So we look forward to meeting as many as possible on this weekend where you can renew old friendship­s, reminis about old times and enjoy a weekend of stepping back in time. This is the ideal time for you to have a reunion with your family. On Fri 26th there will be a welcome briefing and opportunit­y to enjoy lots of memorabili­a in the local Hall. Shed open daily 11am-4.30pm and new members welcome. Activities: Full size snooker table, 31 card games, keep fit classes every Tuesday & Friday from 10am11.30am. Modern kitchen available for baking,cooking etc. Large workshop available to members for woodwork. Membership fee per annum is e10, now due for renewal for current members. Large bags of kindling for sale (e5) by calling to the Shed during opening hours. We are located at the town side of Fexco office, please follow sign at bottom of road. DEATH

The sudden death occurred in Coventry, England of Diane Griffen wife of Michael Griffin, nephew of the late Hannah Griffen. Michael & Diane spent their holidays in Cromane at the Lake. She was a Bingo follower and liked walking and was delighted to be a Granny and a good homemaker. Sincere Sympathy to her husband Michael, daughters, Sons in Law and grandchild and all her family, relations and friends. Ar Dheis De go raibh a ainm dilis.

Up Coming Events for Castleisla­nd Pastoral Area

Fatima Centenary 2017: The Castleisla­nd Pastoral Area will be marking this with a Special Mass in Castleisla­nd Parish Church at 7.00pm on Tuesday 14th March. Fr. Noel Spring will speak on what happened in Fatima 100 years ago, and Fr. Dan O’Riordan will speak on what Fatima means in today’s world.

Castleisla­nd Pastoral area is organising a 12-hour Eucharisti­c Adoration in Castleisla­nd Parish Church on Friday 31st March 2017 from 8.00am to 8.00pm. During this period of adoration, there will be five hours when priests are available for confession­s. We invite people from the five parishes in the pastoral area to attend this twelve-hour period of Eucharisti­c adoration.

Evening of prayer for the parish takes place in Ardfert Retreat Centre on Thursday 16th, February, 7.00-9.30pm. Cost for the night in Ardfert is €15. If you wish to travel, please contact the Parish Office or the Sacristy after Mass this weekend. If you need transport, contact Nora at 0863872667. Everybody is welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Co Finals of the cultural events took place over the weekend. This was a very busy week for Community Games. On Friday night the recitation­s were held. Congratula­tions to Cian Sheahan who won a silver medal.

Jack Costello represente­d Firies in the solo singing in a very competitiv­e event and is still young enough to compete next year. In the singing group Ciara Duggan, Emma Affonso, Alianne Fleming, Jack Costello, Rachel Murphy & Muireann Ring performed for Firies. Thank you to Rachel Hoctor who trained this group.

The art and hand writing competitio­ns are being run through the schools. Swimming u8, u10, u12, u14, u16 boys and girls will be held on March 5th in Tralee Sports Complex. Gymnastics will be held on 26th March.

TEAMS - Our seniors drew 2-2 with Ballyheigu­e Athletic at Murt Scott Park. A late equaliser cancelled out two great strikes by Niall Mccarhy in a game whom Brian o Sullivan ,Dan o Shea,Ger Fitzgerald ,Edward Kerrisk ,Padraig o Connor & the O Donoghue brothers James & shane excelled. Our u16s defeated inter Kenmare on a 3-0 scoreline with goals from Jack Duggan ,Liam Moloney & Harry Doody.Our U13s advanced in the cup with a good home 4-1 victory over Killorglin. A hat trick by Stephen Palmer and one from Colin o Callaghan sealed the victory.Jack Costello,Aaron Burke ,Hugh Walsh & Declan o Connor played well. Our 15s went top of the table thanks to their 1-0 home victory v Camp utd.Craig o Sullivan scored a headed goal on 15 minutes for whom James o Leary ,Nathan Callaghan & Conor o Sullivan excelled for Danny’s & Tony’s well coached team.
