STRAND ROAD IS ALL SET FOR STRICTLY
DANCE fever has taken over on Strand Road in Tralee as the area gets ready for Kerins O’Rahilly’s GAA Clubs’ first ever Strictly Come Dancing fundraising night next month.
The event takes place on Saturday, March 25, when 12 dancing couples will take to the dance floor at the Brandon Conference Centre in a bid to be named the Strand Road’s first Strictly Champions.
The line-up includes several well known past players from the club, one of two Kerry footballing legends and several well known local businesspeople.
For weeks now the couples have been training with experienced Tralee based choreographer Jackie O’Mahony – someone who will be very familiar to any musical fans in the county – and it promises to be an unforgettable night in The Brandon.
The judging panel comprises of writer Billy Keane; Deputy Michael Healy Rae Deirdre Walsh of Radio Kerry and businesswoman Caroline McEnery of the HR Suite.
Brian Hurley and Margaret Kissane of Connect Publications will share MC duties.
Money raised at the event will go to the club’s development funds while a charity chosen by the winners will receive €500.
Garvey’s SuperValu has also donated a one night stay at the Dingle Skellig Hotel which will be raffled off.
The dancing pairs are as follows Ogie Moran and Eileen O’Shea; Ger O’Brien and Teresa O’Brien; Dominic Rollo Walker and Rosie McGrath; John Fitzgerald and Sharon Walsh; Jessica and Mike Lynch; Claire Molloy and Paul Ryan; Trisha Moran and Declan O’Carroll; Catriona Kennedy and Rob O’Connor; Kevin Finn and Marcella Daly; Martin Nix and Catriona O’Sullivan; John O’Dowd and Shannon McInerney and John T O’Sullivan and Christina Curtin.
Tickets costing €20 (€10 for under 15’s) are on sale now from the clubhouse and at Dowlings Shoes Tralee; Morans Shop on Strand Road and Foley’s Spar on the Tralee to Castlemaine Road.
