Tim was born on 19 September 1937, the second of 14 children, to Garda Dan and Tessie Kiely. He had fond memories of his schooldays in Tarbert and on his many visits home he liked nothing better than to reminisce about those times.

After leaving St. Ita’s secondary school he was employed in Shannon Airport; during this time he played football at various levels with Tarbert and St. Vincent’s (Feale Rangers) He kept this interest in gaelic football all of his life.

In 1958 he decided to em- igrate to the USA where he worked in construction. He was also in the entertainment and bar business and was involved in the very successful Red Mill Ballroom.

He met Olive Mc Keown in New York and they married in 1968. After a few more years in New York they moved back to Ireland where they ran a business in Ballybunion for a number of years before returning again to New York.

Tim came to Tarbert every year where he loved to visit with family and friends. The highpoints of his trips were Listowel Races and the All-Ireland Final.
