Glenbeigh / Glencar do the county proud of in Croke Park

-

HEARTIEST congratulations to Glenbeigh-Glencar who were crowned All Ireland Junior Champions at Croke Park on Sunday last when they defeated Tyrone standard bearers Rock St Pats after a tough encounter where the destiny of the title remained in doubt right up to the final whistle.

A great save by Rory O’Connor after 62 minutes, at a time when the winners had fought back to regain the lead, kept the Mid Kerry noses in front and man of the match Darran O’Sullivan and Jason McKenna added the insurance points to secure an historic victory on a 1-14 to 1-11 scoreline. There is certainly a lot more satisfaction gained from a hard earned victory such as this and no doubt it will be savoured for many a long day around Glenbeigh and Glencar.

Kerry clubs have now won half of the sixteen finals played including the last three by Brosna, Templenoe and now Glenbeigh-Glencar.
