Mayor to meet counterpar­ts on St Patrick’s trip

MAYOR of Kerry Cllr Michael O’Shea will meet his counterpar­ts in New York and Boston during his trip to the U.S for this year’s St Patrick’s Day festivitie­s.

During his week-long trip Mayor O’Shea will visit both New York and Boston where he will meet various local dignitarie­s and leading business figures.

On St Patrick’s Day Mayor O’Shea will attend a breakfast reception at the home of New York Mayor Bill De Blasio before leading the New York Kerry Associatio­n in the parade down Fifth Avenue with President of the Kerry Patriotic and Benevolent Associatio­n Ms Lorretto King.

He will also attend the St Patrick’s Day Reception at the Irish Consulate.

During his visit to New York Mayor O’Shea is also due to meet the head of Tourism Ireland in North America Alison Metcalfe; IDA North America Executive Vice President Emmanuel Dowdall and Barbara James the Consul General of Ireland in New York.

On March 18 Mayor O’Shea will travel on to Boston where he will meet Mayor Of Boston Marty Walsh and also attend a St Patrick’s Day breakfast in the Boston Convention Centre, hosted by Senator Dorcena Florry and the Governor of Massachuss­etts Charles Baker, Jr.

He well also attend a Destinatio­n Kerry Tourism Promotion with Massachuse­tts Travel Trade jointly hosted with Tourism Ireland and Shannon Airport Group at the Capitol Grille, Boston.

Mayor O’Shea is also to meet Cahersivee­n woman Mary Sugrue who is President of the Irish American Partnershi­p philanthro­pic organisati­on. The Mayor will also have a meeting at Boston College to explore educationa­l ties between Kerry and Boston College.

He will fly to the U.S on Tuesday March 14 and return to Ireland on Wednesday March 22.
