Liebherr launches scholar scheme for Kerry students

-

LIEBHERR Container Cranes in Killarney have announced a new scholarship fund for Kerry students who want to study engineering.

As part of Engineers Week 2017, Liebherr announced a new Engineering Scholarship Programme which will commence this September.

The Engineering Scholarship Programme will provide an opportunity for Leaving Certificate students in the Kerry area, to gain a third level qualification in an engineering course of their choice from the following engineering disciplines, electrical, mechanical, structural, automation or mechtronics.

“One of the key elements of the scholarship is the practical experience the students will gain at Liebherr during their summer and college work placements,” said Liebherr’s Technical Director Charlie McCarthy.

“The tradition of both a practical and theoretical education is synonymous with Liebherr. The students will work in engineering departments throughout the company, under the guidance of senior engineers where they will benefit from seeing the application of engineering principles on modern high tech world class products,” Mr McCarthy said.

As part of the launch, Liebherr will hold an Engineering Scholarship Open Evening on Wednesday, March 15 from 5.30pm to provide information to interested students who are doing their Leaving Certificate in 2017, together with their parents and teachers.

Liebherr engineers from a variety of disciplines will be available on the evening to provide practical advice to students regarding engineering as a career choice, and to show examples of their daily work.

Anyone who would like to attend the open evening should register on or before 1pm on Monday, March 13 by sending an email to gradrecruit.lcc@ liebherr.com.

Successful applicants for this scholarship will complete their CAO application as normal, and following an interview process at Liebherr the chosen candidates will benefit from an all course fees paid programme for the selected college.

Work experience placements at Liebherr in Killarney will also be available. Upon completion, a graduate role in the company is assured.
