The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

A new spin on recruitment

-

IRELAND’S first ever ‘Recruitment Festival’ will be held in Tralee later this month.

RecFest will take place on Thursday, March 23 between 4pm and 7pm on Abbey Street – between Yummy Cafe and The Abbey Inn – with stalls taken by businesses from all around Kerry set to line the pedestrianised walkway.

RecFest Tralee, sponsored by AIB, will allow graduates and employers from around the county to interact in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Space will be provided for graduates to sit down with prospective employers, to chat and find out more about each other.

The initiative was launched by five students from IT Tralee in association with the HQ Tralee business centre located in the Abbey Inn complex.

Rosie Browne, Joe Monaghan, Dale Brosnan, Lisa O’Mahony and Ryan Delaney are the students involved in the project and all five are currently on work placement with businesses in HQ Tralee.

“It is a great way for graduates to see what is out there for them in Kerry, for both their career and social life,” said Lisa O’Mahony.

A themed after party will take place in the Abbey Inn, from 7pm.

Tickets for the after party are free, and only available at the stalls on Bridge Street. There will be special drink promotions on the day, with a DJ providing music for the night.

Food will be provided by mobile catering, in keeping with the festival theme.

The event is sponsored by AIB and offers plenty of opportunities for both graduates and businesses.

HQ Tralee – which was founded by local businessmen Ken Tobin and Tom O’Leary, provides workspaces for new and existing businesses on three floors above The Abbey Inn. There are 34 people employed by firms in the centre.
