Public meeting to develop our creativity
ARTS, cultural and heritage group members are urged to attend a public meeting in Tralee on Tuesday, March 14, next (Rose Hotel, 7pm) in one of the first stages in drafting a special creativity plan for the whole county.
Building Creative Communities is the Kerry County Council-led initiative to help groups active in creative fields in Kerry develop their art and business with the help of funding under the Creative Ireland Programme.
The five-year national plan, described as ‘ambitious’, aims to prioritise cultural and creative projects when it comes to public policy nationally from 2017 to 2022.
Local authorities are responsible for rolling it out and spreading the word at county level and to that end Kerry County Council is urging the creative communities of the Kingdom to attend the looming public meetings.
“Creative Ireland is a significant development that brings focus to our living culture and how we choose to communicate who we are to each other and the wider world,” Kerry County Council Chief Executive Moira Murrell said in advance of the meeting.
Kerry County Council and the Creative Ireland national team will host the open meeting to share details about the Programme and to explore opportunities to increase access, engagement and collaboration in the local arts and creative industries.
