Tenacious display by hurlers

AFTER a tenacious first half, after which the sides were level at seven points each, Kerry eventually went down by 15 points to Wexford in their Allianz Hurling League, Round 3 game played at Wexford Park last Sunday. Final score was 3-18 to 0-12.

Kerry now have two home games left in the competitio­n. Galway are the visitors in Round 4 on this Sunday, March 12 at Austin Stack Park, 2pm.

Admission on the day costs €15, but it is available at a reduced price of €12 if purchased online on www.gaa.ie from the Kerry GAA offices in Austin Stack Park, from the Kerry GAA Store in the Outlook Centre in Killarney or at participat­ing Centra or Supervalu stores around the county up to midnight on Saturday.

The remaining league fixture will be against Offaly on Sunday, March 26.

Minor Hurlers

THE Kerry minor hurlers have been paired with Carlow and Wicklow in the 2017 Leinster minor hurling league. Their opening game will be against Carlow on this Saturday, March 11, 2.30pm, venue to be confirmed. Round 2 will be away to Wicklow on Saturday, March 18.

THE 2017 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps for Hurling in Kerry are: Causeway & Rathmore (3 – 7 July), Lixnaw & Ballyduff (10 - 14 July), Ballyheigu­e & Kenmare (17 - 21 July), Abbeydorne­y, Ardfert & Fitzgerald Stadium (31 July – 4 Aug.), Crotta O’Neill’s – Dromakee (7 – 11 August) and Kilmoyley & Tralee Parnell’s - Caherslee (14 – 18 August). Clubs

TRALEE Parnells Under 8 & 10 hurling coaching continues at Tralee Sports Complex each Tuesday, from 6 to 6.50pm. New players are welcome. These sessions are for boys and girls born 2007 - 2010 and new players are most welcome. This Academy runs until March 14.

The St Brendans Minor Hurling Club annual award presentati­ons took place last weekend. Among the presentati­ons was one to the recently retired Kerry hurler John Egan.
