GAA MEMBERSHIP Scartaglen GAA Club Registrar Timmy O Connor will be in the Clubrooms for a final time on Sunday March 19th from 11am to 12 noon to collect membership/ registration fees for 2017. The final date for payment of membership for the coming year is March 31st, anyone who hasn’t paid by that date will not be eligible to have their names entered for draws for tickets for the Munster and All Ireland Championships. MINOR COUNTY LEAGUE Scart/ Cordal won their second game in as many outings when accounting for Rathmore 3-6 to 2-6 in Round 2 of the Keanes SuperValu County Minor League which was played in Cordal on Saurday evening last. This was another very good performance from the local side who played against a strong wind in the first half. At half time it was 1-3 to 0-2 in favour of the home side. The vital score in the first half came in the 28th minute when Shay Walsh found they Rathmore net. Rathmroe began well in the second half and kicked over two points to cut the deficit to two points. In the 38th and 44th minute points from Dylan O Donoghue and Sean Walsh restored the home sides advantage. Cordal/Scarts second goal came in the 46th minute when Kieran Enright goaled after good work from Shay Walsh, Eddy Horan and Sean Walsh. The local combinations third goal came in the 54th minute when a long delivery by David Riordan found the Rathmore net and soon afterwards Sean Walsh put the home side ten points up when scoring a point. Two late goals however by Rathmore scored by Anthony Darmody and Brian Friel and an injury time point from a free by Darmody left Cordal/ Scart the victors by 3 points when the final whistle was blown.
