DENNY PREMIER A

Fenit Samphires 6 Inter Kenmare 1 FENIT Samphires stay level with Killarney Athletic at the top of the table with hat tricks from Ryan Dolan and Bill Mullins giving them a comfortable win over Inter Kenmare at Mounthawk Park on Sunday morning.

Played in testing conditions the seasiders were always in charge of this game and won it with considerable ease at the end. They dictated the early exchanges and could have gone ahead early on, but they were denied by a number of great saves by the Inter keeper Ray O’Shea who had an outstanding game.

Ryan Dolan was a thorn on the side of the Inter defence and he was getting in behind them on a regular basis, but his finishing was letting him down. They went ahead after 21 minutes after good interlink play on the touchline Peter McCarthy put Bill Mullins in and he finished to the net from close range.

They doubled their lead two minutes later when Ryan Dolan beat the Inter offside trap and he tucked away his shot from close in. Inter began to enjoy much more possession after this and created a few scoring chances.

Good build up play from Der O’Sullivan and Stephen O’Shea produced a corner kick which was taken by Tom O’Sullivan and it went straight through the Fenit keepers hands and went inches wide.

Another chance came three minutes later, but Der O’Sullivan volleyed wide. They were only a lick of paint away from pulling one back in the 32nd minute with Simon O’Shea’s shot coming back off the butt of the post. However, Fenit were in again in the 38th minute and Ryan Dolan’s shot went in off the post.

The same player should have scored again before half time but he was denied by a great save by the Inter keeper. Fenit put the game to bed six minutes into the second half when Daniel Clinton setup Ryan Dolan and he completed his hat-trick.

To their credit Inter battled back forcing a corner kick. It was taken quickly by Thomas O’Sullivan to Sean Murphy who cut in from the wing and sent a daisycutter of a shot which flew into the bottom corner of the net

That was as good as it got for Inter with Bill Mullins scoring two more goals for Fenit to complete his hat trick and wrap up the three league points. Fenit have a tough run in in their final series of games in Premier A with Killarney Celtic home and away while they also have away ties against Dingle Bay Rovers, Tralee Dynamos and Rattoo Rovers.
