ATHLETICS

Eight Munster medals. The Munster U13 to U19 indoor Track and Field Championsh­ip took place at the Nenagh arena on Saturday and Sunday February 25th and 26th 2017. Kenmare Athletic Club entered seven very talented athletes for these very competitiv­e championsh­ips. They won a total of eight Munster medals two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. All seven athletes qualified for the All Ireland finals which will be held in AIT Internatio­nal Arena, Athlone on March 25th 2017. Three Kilgarvan athletes medalled namely Michael O’Reilly placed 2nd in the boys U15 800m, Gary Randles was 2nd in the boys U16 shot putt and the third silver medal event went to Christine McCarthy in the girls U18 high jump. Rhona Randles suffering from a heavy cold placed 4th in the girls U16 1500m. Well done to all.

COLLECTION

Many thanks to the people who contribute­d to the Bord na nOg collection which was taken up last weekend. The amount collected was €403. Thanks to all who collected, Joann Murphy, John Creedon, Majella Creedon, Siobhan Horgan, Mary O’Shea, Catherine O’Donghue.

FOOTBALL

After an absence of two years Kilgarvan have entered a Football team in the County Division five league. Kilgarvan’s first game in this competitio­n will be a home fixture on Sunday March 12th at 2:00pm. The following Sunday March 19th at 2:00pm in the same competitio­n Kilgarvan will be away to Ballylongf­ord.

CONCERT

Shoulder to the wheel - A fundraisin­g concert in Bantry House, Bantry Co. Cork on Saturday March 18th at 8:00pm in aid of Cancer Connect transport to Cork Hospitals. Artists include Seho Lee, a World renowned pianist, actor Simon O’Gorman, singer Denis Collins, soprano Ecaterina Tulgara from Russia, Glengariff­e Church Choir and local talent. Tickets €20 available at locations in Bantry, Bantry Bookshop, William Street, O’Sullivan chemist, The gift shop, Local Link, Main Street or by contacting Joan at 086 600 8029. All proceeds go to Cancer Connect.

VINTAGE CLUB

The Roughty Valley Vintage Club decided at their recent AGM to separate the car and tractor runs.

A car run is organised for Sunday April 9th 2017 and Sunday October 8th 2017. There will be two dedicated Tractor runs one in May and the other in September.

The Traditiona­l Fair day will be held on Sunday June 4th 2017 Bank Holiday weekend. The Roughty Valley Vintage Club have made a solid commitment as a Non Profit Organisati­on to continue to support local Charities, Clubs and Projects as surplus funds become available.
