MID KERRY SFL ROUND 4

Beaufort 0-6 Miltown/Castlemaine 2-13 BEAUFORT welcomed Milltown / Castlemaine in Round 4 of the Mid Kerry Senior League on Sunday.

Conditions were heavy due to atrocious weather overnight and through out the morning. Beaufort won breaking ball in the first half, however, it was some ten minutes into the game before the first score was put on the board.

A free was awarded to Beaufort and this was taken by Brendan Cronin who scored the home sides first point. This was swiftly answered by Milltown / Castlemaine who scored four points over the next four minutes, two from play and two from frees.

Milltown / Castlemaine continued to be the dominant side scoring three unanswered points (two from frees). Towards the end of the first half Beaufort’s Ronan Murphy scored a point from a free and Milltown / Castlemaine’s Jeremiah Hayes and David Roche both scored points from play. The half time score was Beaufort 0-2 Milltown / Castlemaine 0-9.

Milltown / Castlemaine won breaking ball in the second half and scored two unanswered points within the first seven minutes until Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey scored a point from a free for the home side.

This was followed by a goal for the visitors and a point from play for Beaufort’s Liam Carey. As the wind picked up a little, and hampered by surface water both sides struggled with possession.

Milltown / Castlemaine’s Cathal Moriarty scored another point from free and Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey followed this up with a point from play, however, a further point and goal for Milltown / Castlemaine gave the visitors a considerable lead over the home side.

In the dying minutes of the second half Beaufort’s Fergal Hallissey scored a point from a free and this was to be the last score of the afternoon.
