1. GO FROM RAGS TO THE RUNWAY IN BALLYROE HOTEL

DON’T forget to get your tickets to the ‘Rags to the Runway’ fashion show fundraiser, taking place on the night of Saturday, March 11 in Ballyroe Heights Hotel at 7:30pm.

All the clothes from the night will be taken directly from charity shops around Kerry and will be available to buy on the night afterwards.

Tickets are set to cost €20 and are available from the Adapt Kerry Charity Shop, Sue Ryder Foundation, SVP Tralee, Kingdom Care Tralee, Irish Cancer Society, Enable Ireland Tralee and NCBI Edward Street Tralee.

2. COMEDY TRIO ‘FOIL, ARMS & HOG’ SET TO PERFORM IN SIAMSA TÍRE

THE wonderful comedic talents of ‘Foil, Arms & Hog’ are getting set this week to perform again the famous venue that is Tralee’s Siamsa Tíre.

This will be the second time that the group have performed in Tralee and if their last showing is anything to go by, crowds are in for a treat on the night.

Taking place on the night of Friday, March 10, this two-hour stand up comedy show has been called ‘pure brilliant’ by Tommy Tiernan, with the trio having fast establishe­d themselves as the new breed of Irish comedy stars.

The show will kick off on the night at 8pm with tickets set to cost just €18/€16; this is not a night to be missed.

3. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME SOLID FUNK IN COURTNEY’S BAR IN KILLARNEY?

COURTNEY’S Bar will welcome a somewhat different twist to musical entertainm­ent next weekend when Cork funk band Quangodeli­c set up shop on Saturday March 11.

Quangodeli­c’s material is a blend of solid funk staples from legends of the genre like Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament and Funkadelic; admission on the night is free with proceeding­s set to kick off at 10pm.

4. SPA N.S SET TO ENJOY A WONDERFUL NIGHT AT THE DOGS IN TRALEE

THERE is a lot of excitement around one local school this week as they prepare for a wonderful night of fundraisin­g, with all proceeds from the night set to go towards funding new interactiv­e whiteboard­s for each classroom.

Spa N.S are holding their ‘Night at the Dogs’ fundraiser this coming Saturday March 11 at the KIngdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee and it promises to be a fantastic family night out.

Races will start at 7pm on the night and there will be a huge number of activites to keep everyone occupied, including bouncy castles and face painting.

5. ENJOY THE RISE AND RISE OF THE HEALY RAES IN BEAUFORT

A WONDERFULL­Y unique play which centres around the rise of the Healy Rae family is set to make its Kerry debut this weekend in the Beaufort Community Centre.

A play which was written by Killarney-based storytelle­r and actor Ray O’Sullivan, ‘The Rise and Rise of the Healy-Raes’ is the very funny and emotional story story of two batchelor brothers Densey and PJ Doona who appear time-locked in a life of loneliness and celibacy in their small family farm in Kerry.

But foreign women, love, elections and politics combine to change their lives, with the well-oiled Healy-Rae machine at the centre of the miraculous transforma­tion.

Tickets for the first showing in Beaufort on Saturday March 11 are available to buy at the door on the night or by contacting 087 2279657; the show is set to kick off on the night at 8pm, don’t miss out on this great night of entertainm­ent.

6. LANKUM BAND SET TO PERFORM IN SIAMSA ON THURSDAY

AN Irish band of the highest quality are set to rock out in Siamsa Tire tomorrow night (Thursday March 9) in an event that is expected to draw quite the crowd.

The highly rated band Lankum (formerly known as Lynched) are fresh off a six week coast-coast tour of the United States; re-defining folk music, this Dublin quartet has been drawing critical acclaim and new audiences since their ground-breaking appearance on BBC’s influentia­l Later with Jools Holland.

Fiddle, concertina, uilleann pipes, guitar and stunning vocal harmonies are the hallmark of Lankum; they will kick off their show at 8pm on Thursday night with tickets set to cost just €18/€15.

7. GET RUNNING THE MARATHON IN TRALEE NEXT WEEKEND

TIME is running out to enter the Tralee Internatio­nal Marathon which is all sheduled to take place here in the town on the day of March 18.

Online entries for the run are set to close this week so if you are thinking of entering either the 5km, 10km, half-marathon of full-marathon event, this is your last chance to take part

All entries can be taken online up to March 12 and there will be no entries taken on the day; all informatio­n on tickets is available from the Tralee Internatio­nal Marathon website so make sure that you don’t miss out on this excellent event.

8. DERMOT AND DAVE ARE GETTING SET TO ENTERTAIN THE INEC

THE comedic talents of the nations’s most rogueish and lovable radio presenters will be in full swing in the INEC in Killarney next week as the Today FM duo bring their ‘Ah Sure Look It’ tour to Kerry next week.

Tickets for the show are currently on sale from the INEC box office and are priced at just €29; doors will open at 7:30pm with the show itself set to to start at 8:30pm.

9. ENJOY A NIGHT OF SOCIAL DANCING IN THE GRAND HOTEL IN TRALEE

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fun Tralee getting set to host the first of their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month, all in aid of a very worthy cause.

The charity run the dance nights in order to help meet the costs of bringing children from the nuclear disaster zone to Kerry for a holiday every summer.

The dances at the hotel start at 9pm every Wednesday night and run until 11:30pm; the cost of entry for each night is set at €8. These dances are a great way of beating those winter blues.

The line up for the month is as follows: March March 8 (Best of Friends), March 15 (Ger Healy), March 22 (Peter Burke) and March 29 (Eddie Lee and James Kelliher).

10. GET OUT AND GET EXERCISING IN TRALEE THIS SATURDAY MORNING

FEBRUARY is here and we hope that people are still going strong; exercise and health are the in so why not try to head down to the Tralee Town Park this coming Saturday morning and take part in the weekly park run?

The 5km run/walk is completely free of charge and is a great way to start your weekend.

The morning is very well organised and supported and starts at 9:30am sharp every Saturday, so make sure that you pop down on the morning and try it out; there’s no better way to start a Saturday morning off and you certainly won’t regret it if you do head down.
