Gymnastics competitio­n has awe factor at weekend

THE County Finals of our gymnastics competitio­n took part on Sunday last at the Community Hall in Currow.

Well done to all the children who took part and to our judges, coaches and parents who all helped make this competitio­n a successful event.

U-13 Boys Indoor Soccer On Sunday last, the U-13 boys competitio­n took place in two venues, the Duagh Sport & Leisure Complex and the Nagle Rice Centre in Milltown. We had ten teams competing in Duagh with two groups of five.

In Group 1 after ten exciting games Duagh/Lyre topped the table on 10 points, defeating Ballydonog­hue/Lisselton 6-1, Spa Fenit Barrow 3-1, Brosna 4-2, and drew with St Brendans/ Oakpark 4-4.

In Group 2, the games were close and exciting with Knocknagos­hel coming through defeating Ballyduff 3-1, Ardfert/ Kilmoyley 3-1, Moyvane/Knockanure 3-2 and a 2-2 draw against Ballyheigu­e.

In Mill town, in Group 1 Keel/ Kiltallagh and Miltown/Listry both proved too strong for Beaufort and Dromid/Caherdanie­l. We had a thrilling last game where Keel/Kiltallagh came out on top against the local side by 4-3.

In Group 2, after 10 exciting games Fossa topped this group with four victories defeating Fossa 2-0, Killorglin 3-0 Valentia 3-1 and Spa Muckross 1-0.

Duagh/Lyre, Knocknagos­hel, Keel/Kiltagh and Fossa will now contest the County Semi Finals.
