BISHOP EAMON CASEY

We extend our sympathy to the family of Bishop Eamonn Casey who died on the 13th March 2017. The funeral Mass for Most Rev. Eammon Casey took place on Thursday March 16th at Galway Cathedral. Thereafter he was interred in the Cathedral Crypt. Many people travelled to Galway to pay their respects including Tadgh O’Donoghue who was at his ordination as Bishop of Kerry in July 1969. Thomas O’Reilly whose grand aunts and relatives were friends of Rev Eammon Casey and very much in praise of his pastoral work during his time in London from 1960 to 1969 also travelled. He was Bishop of Kerry from 1969 to 1976. Bishop Eammon has been well known for his pastoral and community work. As Bishop of Kerry, he signed off on the Church property sold to Kilgarvan GAA in 1976. The club will be forever grateful for this benevolent deed.
