Senior league resumes this weekend

THE East Kerry Senior League resumes on Sunday with three division 1A back games.

Legion host Currow and Rathmore are at home to Kilcummin, at 12 noon. There are 2 division 1B back games fixed for Tuesday, April 4, at 6.30pm. Glenflesk welcome Fossa and Listry entertain Spa. The division 2 final will be fixed for the first available date, at a neutral venue.

Mini Sevens

EAST Kerry boys and girls Mini Sevens games took place in Dr Crokes and Fossa club grounds. The standard of football at both venues was superb with all teams showing fantastic skill levels.

Twenty-one boys teams took part on the day. Fossa NS defeated a young Holy Family NS outfit in the boys decider. Sixteen girls teams took part. St. Olivers NS defeated a spirited Knockaderr­y NS team in a great girls decider.

Thanks to Dr Crokes and Fossa clubs for the use of pitches over the two days. St Brendans College students provided fantastic support to Vince Cooper East Kerry/ Kenmare GDA in running the two day event. Best of luck to Fossa NS and St. Olivers NS in the county finals.

Congratula­tions

WELL done to all the participan­ts from East Kerry clubs on representi­ng their families, clubs and District so well at the County Finals on Sunday last.

Heartiest congratula­tions to Kilcummin Figure dancers on winning the Rince Foirne (Figure Dancing) title. Well done to Glenflesk club on being awarded the Healy/O’Connor Shield, for the third year in a row, for the best participat­ion in Scór competitio­ns across all the grades.

Very well done and congratula­tions to Gneeveguil­la’s Sean O’Keeffe who was second placed in Sean Nós dancing.

U-13 Skills

THE East Kerry Board U-13 boys skills competitio­n took place on Tuesday with teams of three players on the night.

We will have the results for next week’s notes. Kenmare District Board Under 13 boys skills competitio­n will take place this Thursday at 4.15 pm in Kenmare, with teams of three on the night. Contact East Kerry/Kenmare GDA Vince Cooper for further details.

Cumann Na mBunscoil

THE Kenmare Cumann Na mBunscoil competitio­n took place last Friday.

The standard of football on display was excellent with all teams evenly matched. The skill levels on display was much appreciate­d by a large attendance. The boys decider was a tight affair with St Johns NS Kenmare defeating a spirited Cahir NS team in a tough battle. The girls final produced a wonderful open game.

Realt Na Mara Tuosist overcame a well drilled Kilgarvan Central NS team in a close game. Thanks to Kenmare GAA club for the use of the club grounds on the day. P.S. Inver Sceine provided the referees on the day which was much appreciate­d by all schools taking part on the day.

Gavin Crowley (ITT) organised the well run event working with Vince Cooper East Kerry/ Kenmare GDA to complete the games schedule.

THE very best of luck to St Brendan’s College, Killarney in the Hogan Cup football final on Saturday in Croke Park.

Best wishes to the Kerry Under 21 team and management in the Munster Championsh­ip Final against Cork on Wednesday in Parc Uí Rinn and in particular to Shane Ryan (Rathmore), Daniel O’Brien and Lee O’Donoghue (Glenflesk).
