1. KILLARNEY SET FOR A FANTASTIC WEEKEND AT K-CON

KERRY Comic Con is coming to the INEC in Killarney this coming April 1 and 2 in an event that is sure to attract a huge crowd to the South Kerry venue.

Don’t just watch the action but become a part of it by meeting the actors behind some of the biggest adventure movies from Hollywood. Guests include John Rhys-Davies (Lord of The Rings, Indiana Jones, The Shannara Chronicles) and Capser Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Mortal Kombat Legacy, Tarzan).

Tickets for the event are set to cost €20 for an adult ticket for Saturday and again €20 for a Sunday ticket’; children are set to cost €8 for Saturday and Sunday respective­ly. All tickets are available through the INEC website or the Kerry Comic Con website itself.

2. AIDAN BRINGS HIS ONE-MAN TOM CREAN SHOW TO SIAMSA

THE dramatic talents of Aidan Dooley will be on show in Siamsa Tíre this coming Friday night, March 30, as he brings his award-winning Tom Crean one-man show to the famous venue.

Aidan has been performing his show about the great man from Annascaul for the past 15 years and he has consistent­ly drawn sell out crowds for his energetic, soulful and emotive performanc­es.

Aidan’s show will kick off in Siamsa on March 30 at 8pm with tickets set to cost just €18/ €16 and he says that that he can’t wait to get back to what he describes as a ‘wonderful, wonderful theatre to perform in’ and he says that those attending on the night can expect a dynamic and energetic performanc­e.

3. UNLEASH YOUR INNER BEAST AT BANNA BEACH THIS WEEKEND

HAVE you registered for this years ‘Banna Beast’ challenge yet? If not, then you should seriously consider adding the event to your calendar with organisers already promising that this year – the second year of the obstacle course challenge – will be bigger, wetter, muddier and wilder than ever.

It all takes place over two-days, from Saturday April 1 to Sunday April 2 and organisers say there’ll be something to keep everyone entertaine­d with over 40 obstacles planned; there are still places left to register for the event, this can be done through www.bannabeast­challenge.com

4. ENJOY A WAKE IN THE WEST IN LISTOWEL THEATRE

THE staff and pupils at Colaiste Na Riochta are this week proud to present “A Wake in the West” By Michael J. Ginnelly on Thursday March 30 at 7.30pm in St John’s Theatre in Listowel.

After a life devoted to drink, it is no surprise that Tom Healy’s final wish is to be buried in the drink – at sea, that is. The neighbours, one by one, pour into Healy’s front room to ‘pay their respects’, though not all come to pray.

This is not a night to be missed out on so make sure that you head down to see this hilarious pay in action.

5. FUNDRAISIN­G QUIZ FOR ST MARY OF THE ANGELS HOME

A CHARITABLE group are organising a table quiz this coming Friday night with all proceeds from the event set to go towards the St Mary of The Angels care home in Beaufort.

Taking place on Friday March 31 in O’ Grady’s Bar on Upper Bridge Street in Killorglin , this quiz night promises to be an all round entertaini­ng event designed to test your general knowledge to the max.

The night is set to kick off at 8:30pm; there can be four people per team and will cost €40 per team. There will be a number of fantastic spot prizes and runner up prizes available on the night, including a €200 prize for winners. Make sure that you don’t miss out on this night of fun, all in aid of the worthy cause.

6. KILLARNEY KDYS SET TO WELCOME RENOWENED PSYHIATRIS­T TO KDYS

THE KDYS in Killarney will welcome a renowned guest to its alls tonight (Wednesay March 29) as the psychologi­st and physiother­apist Dr Fergus Heffernan gets set to give a talk in the venue.

The talk will be on the subject of understand­ing the emotional well=being of teenagers, children and family; everyone is welcome to come on the night and light refreshmen­ts are set to be provided.

The venue is set for the KDYS Centre in Fair Hill Killarney with the event set to run from 6:30 - 8pm and admission on the night is free of charge.

7. GET WALKING FOR SCHOOLS EASTER FUNDRAISER

GLOUNAGUIL­LAGH National School are getting set to host a family orientated fundraisin­g walk this coming Sunday April 2 and they are encouragin­g as many people as possible to come to the event.

The run/walk day will feature three different distances with a 1km race arranged for the little ones to take part in and a 5km and 10km run arranged for the older participan­ts.

Registrati­on for the race starts from 10:30am and runs until 11:30am with the event set to cost €10 for the 5km and 10km event and a family of four set to cost €15.

Refreshmen­ts will be served in the school afterwards and there are medals guaranteed for everyone that takes part.

8. THINGS GET DRAMATIC IN KNOCKNAGOS­HEL HALL

THINGS are set to get very dramatic in Knocknagos­hel this weekend as the talented members of the The Spike Players’ performanc­e group get set to perform ‘Happy Birthday Dear Alice from the night of Friday March 31 to Sunday April 2 in the Knocknagos­hel Community Centre.

The shows proceeding­s are set to get underway from 8pm onwards and es expected to draw a good crowd on a night guaranteed to provide a good nights entertainm­ent.

9. GET OUT AND GET EXERCISING IN TRALEE THIS SATURDAY MORNING

MARCH is here and we hope that people are still going strong with their healty resilution­s for 2017; exercise and health are the in thing at the moment so why not try to head down to the Tralee Town Park this coming Saturday morning and take part in the weekly park run?

The 5km run/walk is completely free of charge and is a great way to start your weekend.

The morning is very well organised and supported and starts at 9:30am sharp every Saturday, so make sure that you pop down on the morning and try it out; there’s no better way to start a Saturday morning off and you certainly won’t regret it if you do head down.

10. ENJOY A NIGHT OF SOCIAL DANCING IN THE GRAND HOTEL IN TRALEE

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fund in Tralee is getting set to host the first of their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month, all in aid of a very worthy cause.

The charity run the dance nights in order to help meet the costs of bringing children from the nuclear disaster zone to Kerry for a holiday every summer.

The dances at the hotel start at 9pm every Wednesday night and run until 11:30pm; the cost of entry for each night is set at €8. These dances are a great way of beating those winter blues.
