Millridge Misty is no slouch on morning runs

THE early meeting on Saturday mornings are now firmly set in the weekly programme at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium and last weekend’s meeting produced some impressive performanc­es and the fastest time of the meeting came in the opening race with the Donal G. O’Mahony owned Millridge Misty produced a trap to line victory in a time of 29.07 over the standard trip for grade A4. Jeffs Rocky ran on for second, 4 lengths back from the winner, who returned at odds of 9/2.

The Millstreet owner was back on the winner’s podium following Race 3, as Millridge Puzzle produced and impressive display of front running to lands the spoils in this A2 contest in a time of 29.10. Spirit Bostoncon emerged from the chasing pack to take second 1 ½ lengths in arrears. The winner returned at the generous odds of 4/1. The Millstreet double would have paid in excess of 25/1!

Race 5 was an A5 contest, again over the standard trip, and the wide running Jackman from the kennels of Michael Bourke capitalise­d on a good dash of early foot to run clear of his rivals to cross the line in a time of 29.08. The 4/1 shot finished 2lengths clear of Devon Pluto who found traffic problems at the third bend which hampered his cause.

Punters had to wait till race 5 before the first ‘jolly’ obliged and it came in the sprint for grade S1. The Johnny Regan owned Baltovin Rumble broke smartly from trap 1, however he was a length down to Millridge Bruce after the opening 50 yards. The winner quickly went through the gears however, and he just edged out his rival at the opening bend which proved decisive as he held the rail off the closing bend and maintained a 1 length advantage over Millridge Bruce in a time of 17.71. The winner is trained by Philip Regan.

Other winners on the card were Cork Toss 29.41, Kilcurra Chester 29.33, Pats Boher 29.15 and NewInn Exception 29.15.
