From Below the Hill to the high hills

-

WHAT could be better after a day walking the hills than a night listening to music – and that’s exactly what’s on offer at the Clochán Bréanainn Hill Walking and Music Festival which runs from this Saturday to Easter Monday.

The walking festival has options for all levels of fitness, including moderate walks from Sás Creek to Brandon Point and a more arduous walk to the top of Mount Brandon and across the surrounding hills.Anybody who doesn’t fancy heading for the hills can stroll on Fermoyle Strand where Mara Beo’s Head Aquarist Louise Overy will lead a guided walk that’s particularly geared towards families. And those who are of a mind to be present in the here and now have the option of a mindfulness walk amid the serene beauty of Macha na Bó.

On the music side of things John Spillane will be back in Brandon to take centre stage at a concert in Halla le Chéile on Easter Sunday night and, aside from that, music and general good craic can be expected in the local pubs.
