MARRIAGE

Fr. Gerard Finucane P.P Dromod officiated at the marriage of Seán Donal O’Shea, son of Seán and the late Debbie, and Emma Dwane daughter of Tom and Kitty, nee O’Donoghue in the O’Connell Memorial Church on Saturday April 8th. Kieran O’Shea was the Best Man. The Groomsmen were Aidan O’Sullivan, John Paul Mahony and Alan O’Sullivan. Laura Curran, Caitríona Clancy, Jackie King and Andrea Dineen were Bridesmaid­s. Twins Lauren and Clodagh O’Dwyer, Sophia King, Annie Clancy and Chloe O’Shea were the pretty Flowergirl­s. Tommy Clancy, Daniel King, Pádraig and Declan Dineen and Cillian O’Sullivan were Pageboys. Musicians were Róisín Ryan, Cormac Dineen, Richie Murray, Maeve Moynihan and Ben Tighe. The reception was held in the Sneem Hotel and the newlyweds will live in Limerick where we wish them a long and happy life together.

DEATH

Sincere sympathy to Tony Griffin, Tarmons, his wife Maureen and their family; to Joe Griffin, Derriana, his wife Joan and their family on the death of their brother John of Carhan and Cork whose funeral Mass was celebrated in the O’Connell Memorial Church on Wednesday and burial in Reilig Cill Faoláin. ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Cahircivee­n ladies joined the Waterville Active Retirement Group in Tech Amergin on Tuesday 11th April for an afternoon of dancing to Jer Donoghue’s music followed by tea and delicacies. A great time was enjoyed by all.

AGM

IRD Waterville C.L.G. will hold their AGM at 7.30pm in Waterville Community Centre on Thursday 27th April. Everybody Welcome.

St. Finian’s National School is now accepting enrolments for September 2017. Applicatio­n forms available from the school and must be returned by April 27th.

COUNTY CLEANUP

A very BIG Thank You to everyone who turned out on Saturday 8th April for the KWD Spring Kerry County Clean Up . There were approx 100 bags of rubbish collected. Volunteers help & support is always appreciate­d. Well Done

VILLAGE FETE

Waterville Tidy Towns are holding a Garden F=C3=AAte on Sunday April 30th- May Bank Holiday Weekend from 12noon 4pm. There will be lots of stalls selling local artisan food and crafts and much more. If you would like to have a stall contact Trish 087-7926181.

COMMEMORAT­ION

Commemorat­ion of the Fenian Rising 1867 - 2017 ( 150th ): On this coming weekend the ‘Walk of the Ancestors’ event will be held in Kells to Commemorat­e the Fenian Rising of 1867. It will begin on Friday evening 21st April at Caitins Pub with Informal Evening Meal at 6.00pm followed by official opening by Mr. Richard Andrews Australian Ambassador to Ireland at 8pm. This will be followed on Friday evening by a series of lectures by Dr. Shane Lordan UCD, Anne Golden and Chris Robinson. Music and dance will follow at 10pm.

On Saturday 22nd April there will be a Lecture at Quarry Restaurant Kells by John O Donoghue Former Minister at 10am followed by unveiling of Commemorat­ive Plaque of THE FENIAN JOHN JOLDEN at 11am. This will be followed by a walk from Kells Post Office to Kells Beach at 11.30am. Lunch at 1pm in Quarry Restaurant followed by Lectures to be given by Padraig O Concubhair and Frank Golden at the Quarry Restaurant. This will be followed by Informal Evening Meal at Caitins Pub at 7.00pm followed by Music and Dance. Sunday 23rd April Mass will be celebrated at Foilmore Church at 10am followed by Tea / Coffee at Quarry Restaurant. This will be followed by a Lecture given by John Sheehan UCC and followed by a walk on the Golden Mile
