The sounds of scissors and blow driers could be heard in The Brehon Hotel in Killarney last week at the hugely successful South Kerry Skillnet “Foot in the Door” event focusing on the Hairdressing Industry.

Almost 40 people were in attendance to hear from some of the industry’s leading experts on the trends in the industry. They were also able to get first hand advice from these industry leaders on what it takes to be successful in the business.

“They were delighted to be able to hear from people such Sean Taaffe, who have built up successful businesses in the hairdressing industry, outline what it takes to achieve your goals in the business” said Skillnet manager, Aoife O’ Reilly.

This was further added to by Sean Taaffe of Sean Taaffe Killarney, Tralee and Killorglin with Listowel based hairdresser Danny Russell and Maeve O’ Healy Harte of the Irish Hairdressing Academy who identified the key skills people need to secure careers in the industry.

“Having the opportunity to meet with and ask questions of these key industry professionals enabled those in attendance get a real feel for what is involved in the hairdressing industry” Aoife added.

Those in attendance received information on training opportunities that exist through South Kerry Local Employment Services and the KETB.
