CAMOGIE COUNTY FÉILE A FINAL Causeway 4-7 Cillard 3-1

CONGRATULATIONS to the Causeway girls on winning the A County Camogie Feile Final played in Blennerville on Sunday evening.

Cillard had the better start and had 2-0 on the scoreboard to Causeway’s 0-1 in the first 15 minutes. With good team work from the Causeway forwards Daithli Ni Fhuarain finished to the net for Causeway’s first goal. 2-0to1-1.

Both teams battled hard and with Kate Kenny in goals pulling of some brilliant saves keeping Causeway very much in this game. A long range shot from Ellen O’Donoghue ended up in the back of the Cillard net. Halftime Causeway 3-2 Cillard 3-1.

Causeway made a couple of positional changes for the second half which was a major game changer. Caitlin Guerin was now operating at full-back and she left nothing past her constantly clearing her lines.

Grainne Shanahan and Katelyn Stack were winning plenty of possession and covering a lot of ground with Katelyn keeping the score board ticking over. Causeway were totally dominating in all areas and with the forwards Melaine, Mai Cara and Emma working very hard it was to be Causeway’s night.

A great team effort, well done to all the girls and their trainers Patrice Diggin, Gina Diggin, Michelle Costello and Danny Guerin. To the delight of supporters and players Tom Meehan Chairman of the Kerry Camogie Board presented Grainne Shanahan with the Player of the Match award and the A Feile Cup was presented to joint captains Katelyn Stack and Caitlin Guerin. CAMOGIE COUNTY FÉILE B FINAL Tralee Parnells Killarney

SUNDAY it was Parnell’s girls who took a turn writing a new chapter in club history.

For the first time the Tralee Parnells Camogie team won the Kerry Camogie Féile B trophy, on a fine evening in front of an appreciative crowd of spectators at St Pats grounds in Blennerville.

Parnells had a strong squad on the night and this gave them an advantage over the Killarney side who lacked numbers at the older ages and filled in with some valiant girls playing up from younger age groups.

Danielle had a quiet evening in goal, but struck the puck out well when called on. The older girls showed great leadership in getting on the ball and play making, the joint captains Katie and Saoirse were great examples to the younger members on the panel.

Saoirse, Anna, Clodagh and Shona all imposed themselves on the play, winning possession and moving the play with several assured solo runs. Katie played a blinder and was repeatedly instrumental in turning over possession, mounting attacks and finished well for her own scores as well as setting up the front row forwards.

Well done this group of girls, who put in a real team performance, ranging from the older players who inspired their team mates, to the younger contingent who were well fired up for under 14 competition, having travelled to Croke Park for their blitz matches earlier this week. TRALEE PARNELLS: Danielle Griffin, Aoife O’Sullivan, Anna Kerdzaia, Sile Lynch, Shona O’Connor, Clodagh O’Sullivan, Saoirse Maloney, Katie Dwyer, Caoimhe Donnelly, Ailisha Daughton, Emma McCluskey, Jessica O’Loughlin, Caoilinn Hickey, Aoife Foran, Labhaoise Mansfield, Saorlaith Moore, Hannah Stewart

Sincere thanks to Blennerville GAA for allowing us the use of the Facilities on Sunday last to host the games.
