NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP: Played in brilliant sunshine in Derrynane where Valentia were on the scoreboard with a point in the first minute. Ronan Hussey with a free on the 7th minute levelled matters .Valentia went ahead again in the 9th minute and an Andy Quigley point a minute later put them 2pts ahead. Hussey and Quigley swapped points to make it 4pts to 2 to the visitors in the 13th minute.Another Valentia point in the 18th minute was cancelled out by a fine Denis Sullivan point for the home team. Then Valentia struck with an unanswered 1-1 to leave the score 1-6 to 0-3 after 25 mins. Two points by Paudie McGillicuddy for the home side left the half time score 1-6 to 0-5 to the visitors.On the resumption Andy Quigley increased the lead to 1-7 to 0-5. The response from the home team was swift with a Pat Sullivan point and 1-1 by Ronan Hussey to level the scores in the 8th minute .Hussey and Quigley then swapped points to leave it tied at 1-8 each 15 mins in.Then Ronan Hussey took the game by the scruff of the neck and kicked 1-4 without reply to put Sneem/Derrynane ahead by 2-12 to 1-8 in the 25th minute. Scenting victory the home side went for the juggler to add two further goals through Tadgh Sullivan and that man Hussey again before Valentia responded with a Paul Connor point in the 29th minute. Denis Sullivan had the final say with a point for the home side to leave the final score 3-14 to 1-9 to Sneem /Derrynane.
