TOURISM SHOWCASE EVENT

All accommodation providers in Mid Kerry are invited to attend this FREE event, showcasing the wealth of activities on offer in Mid Kerry which will give your guests a reason to stay longer in the area. 1 hour session. Member & non members welcome.
ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP
Members of the Active Retired Group will be taking part in a 5 weeks (10 hours) Digital Skills training programme with a Trainer from Kerry Flyer CLG .
Starting on Monday April 24th from 1 to 3pm, the programme will run for 5 Mondays excluding May 1st the bank holiday. Topics that will be covered include: creating an email account and attachment , booking tickets and online services, using social networks , use of online TV playback , online banking , shopping, security , digital photography Thanks to Kerry Flyer for this training opportunity. The members are really looking forward to it.
CALL FOR GRANTS OFFICE
Councillor Michael Cahill has called on Kerry County Council to open an Office in Killorglin to serve the county that will have all information readily available in regards to Grant Aid at Local, National and European level and also in respect to the various schemes that are available such as Community Employment Schemes, Rural Social Schemes, TUS, etc.
The Fianna Fail Councillor who moved a Notice of Motion in regards to the matter at a recent meeting of the South and West Kerry Municipal District said such an Office would ensure that the county will secure the maximum amount of funding that is available; In addition, by having all the information available on the various schemes, this will further ensure that the maximum amount of work is carried out throughout the county. Councillor Cahill also stated that Killorglin was the ideal location for such an Office as it is the most central town in the county.
1. Cllr. M Cahill: That Kerry County Council open an Office in Killorglin to serve the county and that can advise and assist Community Groups and Individuals on all funding mechanisms available at Local, National and European level and also on the various schemes that are available ie., Community Employment Schemes, Rural Social Schemes, etc,.
Reply: Staff members of Kerry County Council assist Community Groups with funding queries on a daily basis. At Municipal District level the MD Officer is a first point of contact and is in a position to refer groups to the Economic Development Officer, Ms Brigid Fitzgerald or Mr Tomás Hayes of the LEO or other appropriate staff members. In addition there is good interaction and working relationship with the Local Development Sector in relation to other initiatives such as the RSS and TÚS.
