1. LISTOWEL BRACES ITSELF FOR A VERY BUSY MILITARY WEEKEND

THE 2017 Military Tattoo erupts into frenzied life in Listowel this weekend as choppers, skydivers and more than 200 re-enactors make their way to the Kingdom for the biggest festival of its kind in the country.

Siege of Jadotville veterans, warrior queens of Irish myth, World War 2 era re-enactors and the biggest Viking village seen in Kerry since the real Vikings slung their hooks off after the battle of Clontarf are just some of the myriad other exciting people and events set for Listowel for the festival.

2. WALK A MILE WITH A SMILE THIS WEDNESDAY LUNCHTIME IN TRALEE

DON’T have time to exercise? Why not take a few minutes out of your lunchtime routine today (wednesday April 26) and join the Corine Evans Physiother­aphy Clinic as they host the ‘Lunchtime Mile’ challenge in Tralee Town Park at 1:10pm. IT’S aimed towards beginner walkers or those just loking to add a bit morexercis­e to their day - it is a free admission event so if you’re in and around the area tomorrow, make sure that you pop down.

3. BE WOWED BY THE SPECTACULA­R JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR IN SIAMSA TÍRE

EXCITEMENT is building and tensions are almost at fever pitch in the Tralee Musical Society camp right now, as the talented team of cast, crew and director quickly put the finishing touches on their upcoming full-scale show, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.

The musical, which is scheduled to place in Siamsa Tíre from tonight, Wednesday April 26 until Saturday April 29 with an 8pm show each night, traces the last seven days of the life of Christ from the point of view of Judas Iscariot.

Tickets for this show are selling fast and are available to buy from the venue itself and are set to cost just €19/€17.

4. GREAT DAY OF WALKING IN STORE IN ANNASCAUL THIS WEEKEND

ANNASCAUL GAA Club and Annascaul Ladies Club, in Associatio­n with Annascaul Walks, are organising The Great Annascaul Walk to take place this coming Sunday, April 30.

The event will include 2 routes. Route A will leave Annascaul Village heading towards Annascaul Lake, onto Beenoskee, on to Ballinahun­t mountain and back to Annascaul Village while Route B will follow the Dingle Way from Camp to Annascaul.

Registrati­on will take place at Annascaul GAA pitch from 8am Fees for Route A €30 (over 18s only); Route B €20, children €10 and families €50. Both walks will be followed by refreshmen­ts in Hanafins Bar Annascaul.

5. TALENTED CBS THE GREEN ACTORS TAKE TO THE STAGE AGAIN

AFTER the success of their Christmas production of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, the Transition Year students of CBS the Green are giving an encore performanc­e. The play they’ll be staging is “Flour Babies”, by Anne Fine.

The play follows a class of underachie­vers in an all-boys secondary school tasked with taking care of a sack of flour, as if it were a child of their own, as part of the school’s science week.

The play will be running from the 2nd to the 4th of May at 7.30pm, and will be held inside CBS the Green. Tickets can be bought from the school office or bought on the door - €5 children/ students & €10 adults.

6. SUPPORT SWIMMERS AS THEY LOOK TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS FOR CHARITY

COME down to the Tralee Sports Complex on Saturday April 29 and show youir support for a number of hardy swimmers as they take part in a 24-hour swim relay competitio­n to help raise funds for three different charities.

One swimmer from each team will set off every hour on the hour; you must be in the water ready when the starting horn goes off and they must cimplete one mile every hour starting at 9am on Saturday 29th April 2017.

If you know someone taking part in the swim, make sure you come and lend your support.

7. GAA CLASH OF THE TITANS IN RELAGATION PLAYOFF THIS WEEKEND

THERE’S set to be a huge sporting clash of the titans iin Tralee this weekend with two local derbies taking place over.

Austin Stacks and Kerins O’Rahillys will play at 6pm on Sunday at Austin Stack Park in Round 1 of the County Championsh­ip Relegation Playoff.with Extra-time set to be played if needed.

There’s bound to be a big crowd at this one with the winner securing senior status for next year. The loser will have one more chance to stay in championsh­ip for next year.

The day before sees another championsh­ip battle between two local clubs. Churchill will head to Killeen to face Na Gaeil in the quarter-final of the Junior Premier Championsh­ip and again it’s expected there will be a great atmosphere.

8. GET OUT AND GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND IN TRALEE

APRIL is here and we hope that people are keeping active as we head into the summer months; exercise and health are the in thing at the moment so why not try to head down to the Tralee Town Park this coming Saturday morning and take part in the weekly park run?

The 5km run/walk is completely free of charge and is a great way to start your weekend. The morning is very well organised and supported and starts at 9:30am sharp every Saturday, so

Make sure that you pop down on the morning and try it out; there’s no better way to start a Saturday morning off and you certainly won’t regret it if you do head down.

9. GET COOKING WITH LIZZY TONIGHT FOR WORTHY CHARITY

THE Listowel Arms Hotel will be the scene of a charitable cooking demonstrat­ion this coming Wednesday, April 26 as they look to raise much needed funds for the local Chernobyl Childrens Fund.

As seen on Ireland AM, Lizzy’s Little Kitchen will relocate to the popular hotel on Wednesday April 26 at 7:30pm where a whole host of delicious treats will be on offer to the waiting public.

Tickets for the event are set to cost €10 and are available to buy from Joanne on 0870551633 or on the door on the night; all proceeds will go towards the Chernobyl Childrens Fund Tralee District which is run by unpaid volunteers.

10. ENJOY A GREAT NIGHT OF SOCIAL DANCING IN THE GRAND HOTEL

THE Chernobyl Children’s Fund in Tralee is getting set to host their weekly social dance nights in the Grand Hotel this month, all in aid of a very worthy cause.

The charity, which is run a group of unpaid volunteers, run the dance nights in order to help meet the costs of bringing children from the nuclear disaster zone to Kerry for a holiday every summer.

The dances at the hotel start at 9pm every Wednesday night and run until 11:30pm; the cost of entry for each night is set at €8.
