Knocknacree Sky is just what the doctor ordered

-

WHEN a racehorse carrying your name handsomely lands a gamble (25/1 to 9/1) at Listowel Races you are entitled to feel that your luck is in, and it just so happened that, a day later, that same person was associated, as head of a syndicate, with a greyhound that won in a fastest of the night 28.65 (.10 fast) at Tralee Track.

We are talking about Dr David O’Brien, of O’Brien Healthcare in Boherbee Tralee. The racehorse carrying his name. David’s Charm, hacked up in a handicap hurdle at Listowel Races on Monday afternoon of last week (to the joy of his father, Tom, who heads up the TA O’Brien Partnership which owns Davids Charm) and the greyhound which followed up with that impressive victory at Tralee Track on Tuesday night was Knocknacree Sky, which is trained in Abbeydorney by Dan Brassil.

There were no fancy odds available about Knocknacree Star, but 6/4 was well taken and the July ’14 son of Paradise Madison and Louisemygirl fairly excelled in coming from nicely behind to beat the front-running Millridge Grant by three-quarters of a length. It was a case of fulfilling the promise he had shown quite a while ago at the Oakview venue when winning his first race by twelve lengths in 28.30 (.10 fast).

There was another outstanding run two races later at the Oakview venue by the Maurice O’Connor-trained Russmur Vic (Ballymac Vic – Perles Bay), which won by five lengths in 28.69, while the other winners were: Manhattan Elvis, 29.07; Toremore Sparkle, 17.84; Dromore Bentley, 29.34; Millridge Magic, 29.16;Steeple Rd Ethan, 17.78; Knockfinisk Glen, 29.41; Divine Presence, 29.37;Rockburst Blazer, 29.17.
