The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

Positivity and optimism are the prevailing emotions

POSITIVITY and optimimisn are the two prevailing emotions eminating from Presentation Secondary School in Tralee regarding the ongoing exams.

Principal Mary O’Keeffe said that there have been smiles all around throughout the week.

“They [the students] seem to be very happy, up to now anyway; as you know, of course, this can vary from paper to paper,” she said, talking to The Kerryman on Tuesday.

“They were absolutely thrilled yesterday with the Irish paper, the Leaving Cert Honours Irish Paper seems to have been a dream for everybody.”

There was no stress about the maths, thankfully, and, as we speak, they are currently inside sitting the Biology exam so I don’t know anything about that one yet.” “They’ve been well prepared.

“I do see that they are getting very tired now but, at the same time, they all seem to be very positive and optimistic about everything so far,” she finished.

These sentiments were echoed further in the school of the same name in Listowel, Presentation Secondary School, where Principal Eileen Kennelly said the mood around the school has generally been serene.

“I think it’s been a very calm week amongst the girls and they seem happy with their exams so far, judging by the feedback I’ve received,” she said.

“You’d hear about the occasional challenging question coming up on papers here and there but overall the girls have gone about their work in a very cool manner.”

Causeway Comprehensive principal Cathal Fitzgerald said his school’s Junior Cert students took on a restructured English exam which, he said, was greeted very positively.

“They seemed very happy with it which I see as very positive seeing as this was a new structure,” he said.

“And the mood on the ground overall is a happy one amongst both Leaving and Junior Cert students.

“They’ve done their bit and they’re doing well.
