ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOIL DIVISION 2 Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn 5-2 Holy Family NS Rathmore 0-7

GAELSCOIL Mhic Easmainn took on Holy family N.S Rathmore in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Division 2 hurling final.

Gaelscoil started well playing into the stiff breeze and the lively Edward Mac Síthigh had two goals and a point on the board inside the first ten minutes. Brilliant defending by Jeaic Ó Dughaill and Seán Ó Duagáin kept the Rathmore forwards at bay and a further two goals by the speedy Aindriú De Bhailís had the Gaelscoil well in control.

Ciarán Collins kept Holy Family in touch with some brilliantly taken frees and he was ably assisted by Captain Michael Dennehey and midfielder Shane Daly. At the break the Gaelscoil lead on a scoreline of 4-3 to 0-4.

On the resumption Rathmore started brightly but Shane Daly was unlucky goalbound shot from a free went narrowly wide. Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn rotated their players and this affected the flow of their game.

However, Darragh O’Mao- ldomhnaigh, Ciarán Ó Conchúr and the excellent Conor Ó Ciarba drove them forward and once again took control of the game. Subs Cian Ó Dilleáin, Tomás Flaibhín, Conor Ó Duagáin and Seán Ó Conchúir provided great back up to the starting team.

Cian O’Neill was excellent throughout both in midfield and when switched into goals and the reliable goalie Ruairí Ó hAiniféin provided calmness and reassurance to his back line.

Seán O’Connell provided the icing on the cake with a superb one handed goal to leave the final score GSME 5-2 Rathmore 0-7. For Rathmore; Michael Dunphy, Ciarán Collins, Shane Daly and goalkeeper Seán Finneagan played their hearts out, however, Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn were not to be denied on the day and have more then atoned for their loss at the same stage last year.
