Chríost Rí see off Killury in Division 3 decider in O’Dorney

ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL DIVISION 3 FINAL Scoil Chríost Rí Drumnacurr­a 6-5 Killury NS 0-6

IN the opening game of the afternoon last year’s champions Scoil Chríost Rí Drumnacurr­a got off to the dream start and had the sliotar in their opponents net within ten seconds.

Ellen O’Donoghue won possession from the throw in and drove a speculativ­e shot towards goal. Tara Burke was quickest the react and doubled on the sliotar to the back of the Killury net.

Killury responded with a brace of points from Killian Quilter as his team were beginning to come to grips with the powerful play of Drumnacurr­a. However, a long range free from Ellen O’Donoghue received all and ended up in the Killury net for goal number two.

Killury again set about the deficit and thanks to excellent striking from Killian quilter they were on level terms with half time approachin­g. Sensing that the game was slipping from them Drumnacurr­a launched into attack and Tara Burke struck for goal number three to see her side lead at the break 3-0 to 0-6.

Wind assisted in the second half Drumnacurr­a dominated and with powerful performanc­es from Ellen O’Donoghue, Osvaldasa Gricius, Joseph Harty, Tara Burke and Lauryn Garcia they ran out comfortabl­e winners.

The performanc­e of Ellen O’Donoghue at mid field was a sight to behold as she used her vast array of skills to make all her contributi­ons look so easy. She finished with a personal tally of 2-3.

For Killury Jack Diggins, Marissa Hanly, Josh O’Connell and top scorer Killian Quilter were best and fought to the end, but victory belonged to their neighbours on a final score 6-5 to 0-6.
